Occasional Cookbook Reviews — Ruby’s Juke Joint Americana Cookbook

Check out my latest cookbook review for Capital Cooking.  Ruby Dee Phillipa, author of Ruby’s Juke Joint Americana Cookbook, may be the most interesting person to write a book like this that I’ve ever seen.  Not all the recipes live up to their author’s outsized personality, but if you’re looking for a new turkey and stuffing recipe for Thanksgiving this year, you’ll want a copy.  The Roast Turkey with Maple Herb Butter and Cider Gravy sounds amazing, and the Wild Mushroom Stuffing is something I’ll make the next time I’m roasting a chicken.  My mother always says that a cookbook is worth buying if you get even one great recipe out of it, and this one has two.
